Odisea is a private oceanfront family estate, born from a shared vision led by Valérie Rey : artist & decorator, Patrick Rey : architect, and their family. More than a place, Odisea embodies a way of living where creativity, nature, and the ocean exist in perfect harmony.
Inspired by the untouched beauty of Playa Junquillal, on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, the estate brings together two distinct private villas, thoughtfully designed to blend into the landscape and open fully to the sea. Every space reflects a careful balance of light, natural materials, and openness, offering a sense of freedom and calm.
Still lived in and managed as a true family home, Odisea welcomes guests seeking privacy, authenticity, and meaningful moments, in a rare setting where luxury is defined by serenity, beauty, and time rediscovered.
Our story
We arrived in Costa Rica in 1999, settling in Playa Junquillal with our two children, after leaving France behind. For our family of four, it was a profound life change — a leap into the unknown, guided by a desire to live closer to nature and the ocean.
At the time, Playa Junquillal was a quiet, unspoiled seaside village, seemingly untouched by time. We found more than a destination — we found a place to belong, a source of inspiration, and a rhythm of life shaped by the elements.
Over the years, this land became our home, and eventually, our life’s project. Odisea was never conceived as a hospitality venture, but as an extension of our family story — a place designed to be lived in, shared, and deeply respected.
Today, we are grateful to share this place that has given us so much, welcoming guests who wish to experience, even briefly, the rare and simple emotion of our own piece of paradise by the ocean.
